Anthony Mays Speaks To Fatherless Kids on Succeeding in Life

Anthony Mays, who recently came to attention via Buzzfeed’s video about rising from his circumstances in Compton, to now being a software developer at Google, spoke to 600 kids at Urban Youth Workers Institute Manhood Camp at Biola University this last weekend.  In his talk to these inner-city kids, who largely do not have a father present in their lives, Anthony shared his story of being put in the foster care system, then being abused, being mentored by some gracious people, overcoming anger over his life situation, then finally surrendering his life to God.  And through all of that ended up finding success in being in the 1% of “people of color” who have been hired in a technical role at Google.

If you don’t know Anthony’s story, catch up on it here…
