“I think there are a lot of people who are motivated by selfish things, and it’s not the people at the top… I think it’s the guys without a platform that are seeking to have what they [the top artists such as those on Reach Records and Humble Beast] have. They’re seeking to be elevated. They’re seeking the record deal, the big tour, the notoriety, and it eats at your soul sometimes when God doesn’t give you what you want, when you want it.”

“It’s good to watch other people and take notes, but it’s not good to shape your whole ministry on what somebody else is doing. You’ve got to have originality if you want to stand out. I think we need more artists who are thinking outside of the box, who are being lead by God and creating ideas that are original. That’s what makes you successful.”

One of Young Noah’s largest objections is to rappers who seek fame online, but do not seek to be known in their own community.

“There are people who are fighting for exposure on these platforms and nobody’s trying to fight for exposure in their communities. You’re on these websites with your video and your album cover and your download link, but your neighbor doesn’t even know you’re a minister, doesn’t even know you do Christian hip-hop. People in your hometown have no idea who you are but you’re trying to blow up online. That’s not biblical. You’re supposed to affect change where you are and then God will grow you from there.”
