In Spring’s Ear is the final project in a quartet of EPs from Columbus, Ohio artist Yaves. It started with In Summer’s Ear, which released in 2011, which was followed by In Autumn’s Ear from 2012, and In Winter’s Ear from 2014.

Yaves had not intended to complete the set with a Spring EP because he didn’t like the way In Spring’s Ear sounded, but a producer friend named J. Roadhan sent him some beats that he hoped would inspire Yaves to make a Spring EP. One of those beats became “April Showers,” a song that gave Yaves the motivation to create In Spring’s Ear and complete his set of EPs.
“Once he sent me the first track, it gave me some motivation. I was never planning on releasing In Spring’s Ear because I didn’t like the way the name sounded.”
After creating the first song, “April Showers,” Yaves and other producers discussed how they could make the song into a project.
