One of Christian Hip Hop’s most respected leaders, The Ambassador, recently revealed that he is no longer on the Xist Music roster.
“I’m transitioning from my former label, Xist. More to come on that.” said The Ambassador in an interview with DaSouth contributor Tony “Quote” Parson of Quote Christ Radio.
Xist Music is going through some transitions as well. On August 19, the news that Xist Music was partnering with Malaco Music Group hit media outlets. With a new vision and a new approach, Xist founders T. Black and Sean Simmonds signed a long term partnership with Malaco Music Group. The goal of the new merge is to provide Christian based hip-hip, urban, and pop artists a strong label partner and also broaden the awareness and exposure behind the marketing efforts of each artist, according to their press release. Jahaziel (Heads Up) and Sean Simmonds (Genesis) both have projects that will drop under the Xist Music imprint in the near future. Female singing sensation Adia and rising Christian contemporary artist Milton Young are the first new artists signed to the label. Malaco is an award-winning powerhouse label that has produced various genres since 1968.
T-Black comments in regards to The Ambassador leaving Xist Music,
“Ambassador and Xist [have] parted ways on our business relationship. We’ll always be homies. The rumors are cute, but sad to me. We as Christians look for reasons to be at [each] others necks. [Ambassador’s] my brother and will always be!” – said T. Black to DaSouth.com
The Ambassador dropped his Hors D’Oeuvres EP on August 20, the project featured production by Hothandz, Mac The Doulos, J Luv, and GeeDA. The Ambassador will follow Hors D’Oeuvres with an album. In other news, the former Xist Music emcee was featured on Soul Train’s Top 40 Most Soulful Artists, which also included heavy hitters like Kanye Westm Biggie and Common, among others. We are looking forward to what Amba, one of the original Cross Movement members is brewing. The Grammy-nominee has contributed a lot to our musical landscape.
Stay tuned to DaSouth for more information on The Ambassador’s and Xist Music’s future endeavors.
