“I would memorize Snoop Dogg songs and go to school and rap them, and everybody thought it was my song. I would tell them that I was freestyling.”

As he got older, Malcolm started writing his own raps. When he was a junior in high school, some friends had a basement studio and invited him to record there. Once he tried, he got hooked and kept coming back.

“[I] Went to high school man and was all into the basketball thing and the partying thing, chasing girls, going to the clubs and all that stuff.” Due to all of the distractions he was pursuing, he did very poorly in school, graduating high school with a 1.7 GPA.

When he was a senior in high school, he began to understand that searching for happiness in partying, basketball, and girls could not fulfill him.

“I was really at a standstill in his life.”
