“Let Me Go” is a song where Serene talks about his parents, using situations with his mother and father in the first and second verses. He doesn’t have a very good relationship with his father, something that he is transparent about in the second verse. “[My father] goes missing every few years. He shows up one year and goes missing for another few years.” In the second verse he says…

“He said ‘cool, then I’ll see you on a Sunday,’ I said ‘cool, come swing by on a Sunday.’ Day comes but again he never shows man his lies never seem to get old, so please just let me go, please just let me go…”

His album includes features from Americans John Givez, Swift, and Beleaf, as well as U.K. artists S.O. and GkId.

“As the songs were being created, I kind of felt, ‘well, in me hearing my own songs who can I hear also creating music like this as well.’”

His song featuring John Givez, “Mending Broken Strings,” was done in 2013. He met Beleaf during his time in Los Angeles, and “saw a link that he [Beleaf] put up of John Givez and heard John Givez and thought, ‘this guy is sick, he is proper talented.’”
