JTH: In your debut album Killers, what message do you intend on portraying to your listeners and fans?

Omit: I think part of what our music is trying to convey is hope. I feel like that is a big part of what this album is about. It’s us expressing that we aren’t perfect, as we know, that there really is a God out there that loves us and will walk with us through everything and use us how we are meant to be. I personally feel the content of the album is meant to give hope, encourage listeners, and uplift them. I think there are a lot of people out there hurting, and sometimes it’s hard to reach people musically if the product you put out there is not that good, or it’s not that well thought out. We focused hard on throwing away the garbage tracks and creating new. In the end, I’m not going to drive down the street bumping something that sounds dumb because I’m trying to support it because I’m a believer. That’s a big part of it; to have the music sound good, so we can convey hope and help people break down their walls they may be climbing. The primary objective is definitely to help people break down walls the way “Christian hip-hop” is perceived and viewed.

Illusent: Just to piggyback off Omit, I think honestly there is such a human element to it. As humans, we deal with stuff; we go through crisis. We deal with a vast array of emotions, from the happiest moments of joy to the deepest darkest pain. There is a lot of emotion behind our music, and the message is to portray and give people hope. Like myself, I’ve been through the craziest things in life, and to me it’s cool, because I feel God allows stuff to happen specifically for the purpose to be able to articulate it through music. It is an alternative to preaching, as you’re giving them the knowledge of truth through music.

Madik: Only thing I can add to that is I think that God was trying to reveal character in us. The stuff really deep inside that no one could ever touch or see. The stuff you can hide from anybody. We all have that sweet place in our wicked hearts where we can store things that only God can see with clear vision. Through the process, God was mending us, as if we were on the operation table. You know, we have all been through a lot, and when we got off the table, God wanted to reveal every character flaw in us, just because he wants to use us that much more. This album is going to show the hope, sincerity, and character tweaks in us ultimately.
