The southwestern-based group known as the Red Coalescence is gearing up to release their debut album titled Killers, on July 22. The group consists of three dedicated and motivated artists known as Madik, Omit, and Illusent. This album has been a long time coming for the group, and they look forward to sharing their craft with everyone. They are licensed for distribution under Save the City Records. Red Coalescence recently talked with us more in depth about their debut album and struggles they have faced throughout the process. Check out the interview below to see what they had to say.

JTH: We are aware that you guys have your debut album Killers coming up for release. Would you provide us some input about the album and how it all came together?

Madik: As a whole this album has been a long time coming, a couple years in the making actually. We all come from separate groups and separate walks of the hip-hop scene. We were all individually seeking hip-hop and doing our own thing for a while. When we came together, I had this idea. We are all from the same general area, that being in the southwest United States. I felt like God wanted this album to happen, and I felt like he wanted me to unite some of the other hip-hop artists out there which is how we came together as a group. So, I decided to bring in some guys, as God put it on my heart that we should form a group. Initially, we had a lot more people than us three, but that is how it goes. I wanted to bring a lot of individuals in and figure out who is committed for the long haul and how the team chemistry was going to work out. After myself (Madik), Omit, and Illusent came together, we got this album going, and it was ongoing for about a year plus. We had some songs that were in work for over a year, as we were trying to find the sound that we want. We didn’t exactly know what we were going to come up with. We didn’t have a strict schedule or game plan. We basically said let’s get creative and let’s make sound that will be signature to who we are as a group, not individually. It’s not a compilation album. It’s a group album that is unique, which is what we wanted. We all knew that it would take a tremendous amount of time and patience. Myself, as the producer…I wanted to be able to work with people who were “open minded” with there music and not just straight hip-hop. We want to explore music and try to bring it all together. As we went through a good amount of time, this album began to make progress, especially the last six to eight months. We really ignited, and it all seemed to come together. Everything we wanted to do together was just clicking. Myself, and Omit, would come into the studio and say let’s come up with something brand new from nothing and within a few hours we would bust out something mind-blowing to us. We were in awe of how God inspired us and allowed us to accomplish what we did together. This album is going to be an album of a lot of work. We went through so much as a team, we can’t even tell you. We know in our minds because of all the struggle, it’s going to be moving and life changing for people. We also know that there is a purpose for what we are doing and the music we make. The album is secondary to us behind what we put into it and what is behind it. The title Killers means we are here to take your life, and we are here to bring you life. We are here to take what you thought you knew, and we are going to kill that, and we are going to show you what real life is. That kind of set the tone for the rest of the album. We have songs such as “Living Superheroes,” which provides perspective on the life you could have. We are all like Living Superheroes when we are in Christ. We are grateful for how the whole project came together. As far as the release of it, it will be July 22.
