“Right Now,” featuring Crystal Nicole, is a single from TellAVision inspired by time spent at the beach with his family, as well as a song called “Waves” by a friend of his. “I wanted to express my songwriting side more because a lot of people don’t know I’m really more of a songwriter than a rapper.”

Promise went to Texas to be part of a team working on the soundtrack for No Malice’s End Of Malice documentary and got to know fellow songwriter Crystal Nicole. He shared “Right Now” with her and she loved it and wanted to be a part of it.

Promise is used to writing music, but working on End Of Malice was his first time writing with a group of people. Promise primarily writes for so called secular artists and says that one notable song he has written part of is “The Thrill is Gone” by Drake.

“Almost all of my hooks I’ve written and recorded myself and then I send them to whoever I feel suits the vocals. If they like it, they recut the vocals and we have another track.”

“Until recently I haven’t heard any Christian artists doing the vibe. Usually Christian artists were just doing gospel [music], and while all the youth in the youth group are listening to Justin Bieber… My thing is ‘Why can’t we have someone who is singing in the style of Justin Bieber but has pure intentions and doesn’t have a label that’s pushing sex, drugs, and violence down the youth of today.”

Promise wants to write for artists who do Urban Pop music or R&B Soul, “but still have the heart of a Christian.”
