Jam The Hype: FLAME’s Clear Sight Music recently dropped the Jesus Or Nothing album and it charted at #8 on Billboard Gospel. You were on that project. How did it feel to be on a project that charted on Billboard?
Nico Wells: It’s crazy for me on so many levels. First, I’m still honored and wowed that I was even on the project with so many of my favorite artists. So that, number 1, just really blows my mind every time I think about it. Number 2, once I saw how well it’s going, I was like this is crazy. No Eyes Allowed came out in January. For this to drop like 3 or 4 months after it and it’s just like everything has happened pretty fast. The attention, the support, and the love have been really encouraging. It’s extremely humbling because a lot of this stuff is out of my hands. Everything has been out of my hands. So I’ve just been sitting back and enjoying the ride. God is faithful. He has been opening up so many doors. I’ve just been enjoying it.

Jam The Hype: This year, you dropped No Eyes Allowed and featured on Clear Sight Music’s Jesus Or Nothing compilation. Is there anything else we should be looking out for in 2014?
Nico Wells: I’m working on a few things. I can’t let the cat out of the bag too early, but I got a few things in store for ya’ll. This next project is going to be crazy. I’m already working on it. A lot of people have reached out to work with me. With the new connects and the new resources I have, man, you know, I believe this next project is going to be something special.
Jam The Hype: No doubt. I already know Jackie Hill is feeling the music. Is there any Jackie Hill and Nico Wells collaboration in the works?
Nico Wells: Actually, if you go back and look at the first mixtape she did, Music Mixtape Volume 1. A lot of people don’t even know she released a mixtape. Jackie is a beast. I was on like two or three of those songs, actually. I would love to work with Jackie in the future. So, you may hear something…you may. Jackie is one of my favorite artists for real, no doubt. I love what she does with words and ideas, hats off to her.
