My conversation with Canon

In January I purchased two meet and greet tickets (for me and a friend) to Social Club’s Misfit Generation Tour in Charlotte, which is an hour and a half south of where I live in Winston-Salem, NC. The concert was March 18th, three weeks after my surgery, and I was not doing so well. My first three days back at school were really hard. It was depressing to be dealing with this alone, without my parents to take care of me. I had to fill up and rinse all of my many syringes and it took me about forty minutes to get ready for bed between taking my medicines, cleaning up my syringes, and washing my mouth. It was frustrating. The week I had broken my jaw, I asked Deraj and B. Cooper (I was attempting to interview them about their collaborative album), and RMG’s press guy if I could talk to Canon, because he broke his jaw when he had his big accident in December 2014 and could tell me about what it was like. Nobody responded. On Monday, four days before the concert, I got an email announcement saying that Canon was going to be a special guest at the Social Club concert. I had to be able to talk to him. This was the most depressing time of my recovery, besides the first few days after my surgery, and I really felt the need to talk to someone who has been through what I am going through. I again reached out to Deraj and RMG’s press guy if I could interview Canon or have a conversation with him, and got no response.

The day of the concert, I got about three hours of sleep because my jaws kept shaking when I lied down. It was frustrating. I was playing video games at eight A.M., when I would have otherwise been sleeping for a few more hours. It started out as another bad day in a bad week. I was really nervous about being able to talk to Canon. I was afraid that he would not give me any of his time. I thought that if he was nice enough to give me some of his time, I could get ten minutes from him, and that would be great.

That is not what happened. Canon was not part of the meet and greet, so I asked the event organizer if I could talk to him, showing him this note. He told me to wait near a door and Canon would be out in a few minutes. Ten minutes later, Canon came out and I showed him the note. He invited me backstage.
