After my surgery…
On Friday, February 26th, I had surgery to fix my jaw. My mouth would be wired shut for the next two weeks. I went home the morning after my surgery, not feeling too bad. That would change later in the day. The second night after my surgery was the worst night of my life. I barely slept and when I woke up I was I had a lot of pain in my mouth. My jaws would convulse when I attempted to stand up, which I had to do to get to the bathroom. The convulsing would go away after about ten minutes of ice packs on my cheeks. My teeth hurt a lot because of the tension of being them being wired together so tightly.
I thought that I would rather be dead than suffer like this. I could not speak so I communicated with my parents who were taking care of me at home via texting messages on my phone. Here are some of the notes I had written to my parents the first night I was at home.

[column]I was in constant pain and suffering for the next three days. My second day at home, I was drooling constantly for the entire day, but was unable to swallow it and had trouble getting it out of my mouth because my teeth were tightly wired shut. The days after my surgery were the worst days of my life. I spent those days on the couch in the living room. I couldn’t walk on my own, and spent all day watching TV, playing video games, and feeling bad because the pain wouldn’t go away, even with my high power pain medicine.[/column]
