Mr. Talkbox was originally the keyboardist for NSYNC but then became a fixture in Christian music, being the utility man for tobyMac, then more recently getting involved with Reach Records being featured on Andy Mineo’s single “Now I Know.” Mr. Talkbox was also part of the roster of Save the City Records, which was the home of Christian rapper Je’kob. A year ago we posted the story and clip of Mr. Talkbox, Andy, and Black Knight appearing together on the New York City Fox New affiliate for their performance.
Mr. Talkbox just landed the feature on Bruno Mars’ new single 24k Magic posting this video on facebook this week…
Mr. Talkbox is also slated to appear on Lecrae’s new tour titled “The Destination,” which is also rumored to be in the works.
There has been a bunch of debate recently on whether Christian artists collaborations with secular artists is a good trend. What do you think about a Christian artist being featured on what will probably be the 1 song in the country?
I don’t think it’s bad…so long as they aren’t getting involved with any activites that will tarnish their testimony to God. Not talking about man, but God. When we are out there doing craziness and living it up in the world, we will have to answer to God. Whether people “understand” why so and so artist is on so and so’s album, that’s just an opinion.
For example, Lecrae. One thing is to have a non-Christian artist on his album, another thing is if he were to put a pic on his instagram (for example, not that he did as I’m a big Lecrae fan and respect him greatly) with a bunch of girls, drinks in his hand, and cussing. Then someone can say “whoa…what in the world is going on.” I think Christians need to be in the world and not of it, we gotta go in there and bring the gospel in anyway we can, planting seeds to others. Maybe Talkbox was able to talk to Bruno about Christ, who knows.
