“3 AM” does not have a big concept, but is simply “us being creative and trying to do something catchy that people can dance to and really have a good time to,” says Mission. He thinks that it is good to have a balance and include fun songs that are not content-driven but remain Christ-centered.
The final song on the album is “Underrated” and is a song about bringing positive outcomes from negative situations, said Mission. “Brandon came from a perspective of being underrated, people coming at him saying that he’s not really a rapper. He should stick to producing. People kind of count you out.” BrvndonP wants people to know that he is a skilled rapper, and works to show it on this song, as well as the others.
Mission’s first encounter with BrvndonP was at a Breaking Down the Walls concert featuring Trip Lee, KB, and Da’ T.R.U.T.H. “I was supposed to do the sweet sixteen. So I was supposed to do this sixteen [bar verse before] the concert. When I was about to go on stage, the guy was like, ‘Hey man, sorry to tell you, we’re not going to have you do the sweet sixteen anymore.’ That’s all the information I got.”
Having thoroughly prepared for this performance, Mission was understandably frustrated. BrvndonP, known as Black Knight at the time, was the new person chosen to do the sweet sixteen.
“He goes up and does this verse and I was like, ‘Wow, they played me.’”
This was a pretty dope album. A little trendy but over all nice production
