GRAMMY award-winning emcee Lecrae was recently interviewed by DJ Moonbaby of GRAMMY Pro Buzzin’. In this interview, Crae speaks on crossover appeal, ‘Anomaly,’ some of his dream collaborations, and more. Lecrae likened his ability to transcend categories (Hip-Hop, Christian, Gospel etc.) to the legendary Elvis Presley‘s approach to music. He used the comparison to explain that a real artist who focuses on making good art and expresses themselves is going to transcend categories at some point. Elvis, who is known as the king of rock and roll, to the surprise of some, only won GRAMMYs in faith-based categories (Best Sacred Performance, Best Inspirational Performance, Best Inspirational Performance/Non-Classical), which is similar to Lecrae’s GRAMMY history. Lecrae has a diverse list of GRAMMY nominations like Elvis.

“A real artist who just focuses on making good art is going to transcend categories at some point in time,” Lecrae said. “Elvis won all his GRAMMYs in Gospel. I think a good artist can just make good art. If you’re expressing who you are, what you believe in, and what you stand for, it’s going to come out, and hopefully it will rise to the top.”

Do you think Lecrae will go down as an all-time great in music history?
