Lecrae’s “All I Need Is You” was nominated in this year’s Grammy’s for Best Rap Performance. Unfortunately, the song lost to Kendrick Lamar’s “i,” however, this hasn’t’ stopped other artists from showing appreciation for the track.
Singer/songwriter Hollyn performs this acoustic cover of the Cobra-produced record.
We had a chance to talk with Hollyn as to why she did a cover of the track. This is what she told Jam The Hype:
When choosing to do a cover, I always want to pick a song that has meaning in my life. I have always been a Lecrae/116/Reach Records fan. To be honest, the only time I’ve ever rapped was in my car, but I thought it would be fun to step outside of my comfort zone and attempt to do a song justice. I chose “All I Need Is You” because I truly need Christ before all else. Throughout my whole life he has been the One that sustains me and keeps me in check. Not only do I need Him, but I need all of the people in my life who truly care about me. I’m so blessed to have all of the support, and thank you so much for listening and sharing my music. God bless you!
