In the wake of the recent massacres in the countries of Niger, Nigeria, Cameroon, and more to be named, OneGodUnited Poet Will Fonch collaborates with Activist Khalilah Camacho-Ali in a Spoken Word piece entitled ‘International Tears.’ Fonch, based in Miami, FL but naturally from Cameroonian roots, has been researching much about these attacks from Boko Haram, the Islamic militant group established in Northeastern Nigeria responsible for so much destruction. The term “Boko Haram” means “Western Education is forbidden.” Shortly after being enlightened of how so many innocent people have been slaughtered, he was compelled to become another voice to raise awareness and call for prayer for these people. 1500 people this year alone have died due to these attacks along with a large number of kidnappings.
His piece outlines the pain that has been felt over in the region of West Africa and beyond while also briefly outlining the hypocrisy in the media on how the coverage hasn’t expounded upon it to their full potential. Human rights activist and first wife of boxing champion Muhammad Ali, Khalilah Camacho-Ali, an outstanding woman who has seen and spoken throughout so much in her lifetime, contributes by giving her support in the beginning and by inputting her guidance and wisdom to Fonch during the making of the video.
The video was filmed by none other than major Hollywood film photographer Robert Zuckerman, a mutual friend of Camacho-Ali and Fonch, who generously donated his time and efforts for the birth of this video. Expect many great things to come and please keep Africa, France, Syria, and all other countries that have fell victim to these unannounced terrorist attacks in your prayers.
Poem is due to release late February.
