LYRICS
V1:
MY CITY HOT AS HARLOTS, I’M TALKING BAD NEWS/
GOT MORE KIDS TOTTING GUNS THAN DRUNKS DRINKING BOOZE/
AND DON’T BELIEVE IN RULES, THEY LIVING HOW THEY GET IT/
SEE WHERE I’M FROM, WHEN IT’S BEEF THEY SPLIT IT 50/50/
THESE GITS IS OFF THE RICHTER, FORGET ABOUT CHAIN/
FROM TRIGGER CITY TO THE BURG I SWEAR IT’S HUSSEIN/
INSANE FREIGHT TRAINS FULL OF COCAINE/
TRYING TO STACK THEY LETTUCE UP, YOU CAN CALL IT ROMAINE/
DAY ONE THEY WAS TAUGHT TO GO HARD, ALL ABOUT THEM THOUGH NOT ABOUT GOD/
TRYING TO MODEL THE TV SCREEN, BUT THEY NEVER REALLY KNOW THAT THEY LIVING A FACADE/
THEY SAY OUR GENERATION WON’T MAKE IT, WE’VE GONE TOO FAR/
BUT THE WORLD’S SYSTEM MADE THEM WHO THEY ARE, SO WE GONE GIVE THEM GOD/
HOOK:
SHUT THE CITY DOWN, SHUT THE CITY DOWN/
SHUT THE CITY DOWN, SHUT THE CITY DOWN/
TAKEOVER, TAKEOVER/
TAKEOVER, TAKEOVER/
SHUT THE CITY DOWN, SHUT THE CITY DOWN/
SHUT THE CITY DOWN, SHUT THE CITY DOWN/
TAKEOVER, TAKEOVER/
TAKEOVER, TAKEOVER/
V2:
I GOT A LOT OF THINGS WRONG WITH ME, BUT YOU CAN FIND ME WHERE I’M SUPPOSED TO BE/
ON THE SIDE WITH THE KING AND THE FIENDS AND THE FOLK WHO KNOW GOD REALLY SEE GOLD IN ME/
AND, FOR MY CITY I’M GONE BELIEVE THAT, GOD WILL COME RETRIEVE/
THE LOST AND BROKEN HEARTED PEOPLE FULL OF DISBELIEF/
HE SAID GO MAKE DISCIPLES, BUT I CAN’T IF I’M TOO RIGHTEOUS/
TO GO BACK WHERE I CAME FROM CLICKED UP WITH HIS SAINTS AND STRAIGHT UP FIGHT FOR THEM/
FIX YOUR EYES ON HIM, BE THAT LIGHT FOR THEM/
I PRAY I NEVER WALK AWAY, STAGE RIGHT ON THEM/
YEP I, KNOW GOD, FULL OF FAITH/
I KNOW HE COVER CITIES LIKE THEM SHIPS ON INDEPENDENCE DAY/
AND WE GONE ROCK THE CITY FIRST, SECOND WE GONE RUN THE STATE/
I’M JUST THE QUARTERBACK, HE THE ONE WHO CALLS THE PLAYS/
(HOOK)
V3:
FINNA GET HIM IN THE GAME LIKE EA, YOU DON’T WANNA SEE THE TYPE OF GAME THAT WE PLAY/
FISHER OF THE MEN IN THE BAY LIKE GREEN BAY, DIVING BACK AND FORTH IN THE WATER LIKE A RELAY/
OK, IT’S ALL ABOUT HIS PEOPLE THEN/
TRY TO GUARD THEM FROM CONTAMINATION BUT THE OOZE KEEP SEEPING IN/
OK, THIS THE WAY ITS GOING DOWN/
BOUT TO TAKE IT OVER FOR JESUS CHRIST SO I NEED CROWN/
FROM ANY RAPPER OR PERSON WHO THINKING THEY RUN YOUR TOWN/
JESUS BE BATMAN TO YOUR GOTHAM, I’M JUST ROBIN NOW/
WE GONE TAKEOVER THE CITY/
WE GONE PRAY OVER THE CITY, BREAKING CHAINS HOLDING MY CITY/
CAUSE THEY SPAYING IN MY CITY, LEAVE YOU LAYING IN MY CITY ON THE GROUND/
BUT WE ABOUT TO SHUT THE CITY DOWN LIKE/
(HOOK)

FISHER OF THE MEN IN THE BAY LIKE GREEN BAY, DIVING BACK AND FORTH IN THE WATER LIKE A RELAY/
Biography
“I can’t prove to you that God is real. I just know he proved it to me.”
KAS was born in Chicago, IL and raised all over the Country, in a sense. Once leaving the hard upbringing of Chicago, it was off to Atlanta, then Michigan, and finally down to Florida. His parents split paths when he was six years old, and that meant big changes for him and his two brothers. They would now be raised by their Father. “We went from a struggling family that stuck together at all cost, to a struggling frat house full of guys,” KAS recalls. With his mother now absent from his life—which brought anger, pain, a loss of respect for everyone, and a jaded outlook on women—KAS succumbed to a life of fantasy of what happiness looked like and found himself in a very dark place. KAS soon grew up with a chip on his shoulder the size of Texas and learned to bury his pain and anger deep within his own heart. Though he had a father who never left him and his brothers, life still felt empty. “I give my Pop all the credit for doing what most men wouldn’t have done, but he was so busy trying to provide it was like he wasn’t there.” KAS soon started to resort to violence and indulged greatly in the rap community. Taking a likeness to rap legends like Tupac and Biggie, he soon found his way out emotionally. KAS was later expelled from school his 7th grade year for possession of a butterfly knife during a school fight. Fortunately, by the Grace of God, the only person that was hurt was KAS himself. Not physically, but emotionally. He was now sent down to Florida to stay with his Grandfather for a while. Eventually his father and little brother, known as Christian Rap Artist “Lil Prophet,” moved down to join him. KAS had realized that his older brother, whom he looked up to greatly, decided not to come. “I never said anything, but I was devastated. Steve was like my idol. I looked up to him more than any rapper at that time.” KAS was then forced to deal with another major loss. “It’s crazy. I had to go to one of those quote unquote bad kid schools. Felt like prison. Amidst these downs and downs, cause there were no ups in my eyes, I still got out of there and got enrolled in a regular high school by the time I finished. Though KAS cleared all obstacles and moved on, things got worse. They had moved into a new neighborhood, which turned out to be drug and violence ridden. “I learned how to sell everything and to be secretive about whatever I was doing. Nobody knew.” After many close calls throughout high school, KAS tried to get wise and left for the military shortly after graduating high school on time. The first of his immediate family to do so.
After marrying his wife in 2005, before he was sent to Iraq, he had now been introduced to what loving the Lord looked like. “I knew about God, I just never seen anyone actually keep a solid relationship with him until her.” There was no heart change or commitment made, but his wife made sure he knew who the Lord was. “She was raised in Church. I was raised in the street. That was the path to saving me. God knew what he was doing.” After serving nearly a year overseas, KAS then returned home and went home. “Re-enlisting was out of the question. I endured too much hell over there.” In 2006, KAS came back to Florida only to begin right where he left off. “I was running from my problems. I didn’t want to face reality. Ultimately, I either ran away from pain or buried it. After I came home from the military, I found all my problems waiting for me right where I left them.” KAS went right back to what he knew best. After two years, the couple had their first baby, but soon split up. “At this point, I knew that I had changed her. She wasn’t the church girl I had first met. She started to resemble me. We split up but didn’t divorce or hate each other. We were just confused.” At this point, they both were deep into selling drugs. Again, KAS faced more loss; a high school friend convicted of murder, gone for 25 years. His brother was then convicted of multiple charges; wasn’t the first time, but the worst time. He now had to go away for 8 years. Shortly after, another close friend sent away for 20 years on attempted murder charges. All of this coming after a death of another friend. With the pain growing and the bad luck unrelenting, his wife got caught up in the web of his crazy life cycle. “International Drug Trafficking. I couldn’t believe it. I mean, I met her in church. Now she is stuck in London on cocaine trafficking charges. What have I done?” She was caught going through customs at Heathrow International Airport in London with a kilo of cocaine. The biggest loss of his life. With his wife facing 10 years, KAS had a choice. Drugs, fast money, cars, condo, and jewelry. Or his daughter. “I got the news and lost my breath. Rolled a blunt, smoked, and sat in the dark. I then broke down and started crying. Then I prayed. I had two requests. I told God if he was real, he needed to come down here and prove it to me face to face. I then told him I didn’t want my child’s mother to be gone forever. If he honored that, then I would live for him. The very next time I went to church, my prayer was answered through Apostle David A. Boyd of Harvest Time Ministries International here in Tampa. He ministered to me. Called me out in front of the whole church, looked me in the eyes, and quoted my prayer. He then told me that God said if I don’t hold up my end, then he won’t hold up his.” At this moment, KAS was saved. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and started his life walk in Christ. “I was totally convinced that there was a real true living God. His name is Jesus.”
August 2008. The month KAS accepted Christ into his heart. “I remember thinking my music dreams were over.” Before all of this, KAS had found his love of hip-hop, rap, and entertainment. Opening up shows for artists such as; Bone Thugs, Yung Joc, Gorilla Zoe, and more, KAS just knew he was on his way. “I fell in love with rap when I heard the passion that Pac rapped with. He just knew how to take real life and paint a vivid picture. The moment I heard the Album Aquemini, by Outkast, was the moment I knew I was going to be a rapper. I was still living up in Michigan then. I was just a kid.” After leaving everything he knew in the street life, KAS thought it was over for music. “I’d heard of Christian rap through my little brother because he was a Christian rapper. I never liked it though. He was the only one I heard that was any good.” His brother was touring with Christian rap legend Pettidee at this time. KAS started getting more exposed to the CHH community through his little brother. It took no time for him to start loving it. “Once I heard Pettidee, I knew there was a chance. He was the first person other than my brother that had skills. I did some research on him and he had more than skills to back it up. He had actual success and a long history of doing what he did. Then I heard Lecrae and realized that I’d heard him before. Somebody left an old CD in my car with no title on it. It was a mix of various artists. None were Christian. However, one song stood out over all the drug selling, sex, murder, and trash the other rappers spit about. A song called ‘I’m Praying For You.’ That was my favorite song on that CD. I would actually be listening to this song while riding around with dope, pills, and weed in my car. Making sales. Listening to this song thinking, ‘man, I want to meet this rapper.’ But I had no clue who it was. None of the songs were titled.” In 2008, KAS made his first appearance on a CHH album; Pettidee’s A Soldier Sound Christmas (“It’s Ya Birthday”). In 2009, he was featured on his brother Lil Prophet’s Album Versatile (“You Don’t Want Me’). The following year, KAS released his first solo project entitled ADHO (A Disaster Has Occurred), which didn’t make much noise. KAS appeared again on a Lil Prophet Album in 2010, To Infinity and Beyond (“I’m Moving”) and penned the song “Forever.” Next, he entered a hot 16 contest on DASOUTH.COM, now owned by JAMTHEHYPE.COM, and beat out hundreds of other contestants to win his verse on the official “I’m a Creature” single from Christian rap star D-MAUB, released in 2011. He then appeared on D-MAUB’s Death Before Dishonor in September 2011 on the song “Slow Down.” KAS later released the first project that made any noise at all. The semi successful mixtape, No Face, hosted by everybody’s favorite cuzn in the CHH game, DJ Will. “That mixtape was very important to me concerning my music career in CHH. Felt good to get some of my favorite artists on there who actually had a name in the game.” The mixtape hosted seasoned and well-known artists such as Brinson, D-MAUB, Yaves, Lil Prophet, MR. Del, T’Juan, and L9. “It was a busy year for me.” In June 2012, he put another verse on a Lil Prophet Album The Revolution (“Revolution”). The video has pulled in over 47,000 views thus far. When asked about his favorite live performances, KAS says he enjoyed sharing the stage with Canton Jones the most. “While watching him do sound check for a show at Revealing Truth Ministries here in Tampa, he asked me if I had a verse ready. I said yes. So, he invited me to perform with him on stage. His energy is crazy. That was my favorite performance.” KAS has also opened up for high profile Emcees such as Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Thi’sl, Andy Mineo, KB, Pettidee, and more. He is currently getting ready to release his next project later this year. An EP entitled #UnMasked that carries a song called “Shut The City Down” which is getting airplay on Jam The Hype LIVE with Chris Chicago.
KAS resides in Tampa, FL with his wife and kids, he enjoys cooking Lobster tails, is an avid basketball and boxing fan, and loves to drink and sell coffee. KAS is currently serving at Harvest Time Ministries International under the tutelage of Dr. David A. Boyd, where he was recently added to the church’s youth administration. “Right now I am learning to steward and shepherd my platform as a rapper and youth leader. My conviction is that of taking care of my home the way God wants me to, which comes second to nothing. My ministry at church and with my music are the next most important things to me.” KAS boasts that without God he is nothing, and can do nothing worth being raved about.
