Being new to my faith at the time, I took treasured stock in tenured faith bearers discovered in friendships I had formed through the influence of the church. Through a friend, I discovered two pioneers of the genre; KJ-52 and The Cross Movement. It began. The message behind Collaborationsand Human Emergency caught me off guard. Did rappers truly exist which did not use profanity, demeaning racial slang and negativity to promote the art form found in Hip-Hop? At that point, I craved more. I clung to such like a collector’s first toy. If you had one Power Ranger, you had to find the other four. So, my faith-based collection begin to build.

To date, my love of CHH can be attributes to artists such as Bizzle, Social Club, John Givez, the Humble Beast Records, Reach Records, and Lamp Mode camps, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., Flame, KJ-52, NF and nobigdyl. to name a few. My iPod Classic shuffles through approximately 3,500 CHH gems on constant rotation.

I said all of this to say I’m constantly inspired daily by my playlists. Most artists are better servants of the Gospels than most local pastors. I’m blessed with the “how to” for survival of life in these difficult times. Coupled with our instruction manual through God’s love letter in the Bible, CHH is powerful.

Being a writer myself, my inspirations are directly tied to musical influences.
