Jam The Hype (JTH): Just to start off, would you mind telling me a little bit about your background, just your story, and how you got involved with football to begin with?

Jordan Pugh (JP): Man, I haven’t had anybody ask me that in a long time!  I first started playing in either the fourth or fifth grade.  I loved baseball actually.  I was a big baseball fan and player.  The Atlanta Braves were my favorite team when I was little.  After playing baseball, I got into some football.  My dad tells a funny story, man.  He thought I wasn’t going to make it because I was afraid of blood when I was little.  And, I went out there and started playing, and I just fell in love with it.  And as I got older, and by the time I got to high school, I was like, “this is what I want to do.”  I made it a point right there to make sure I reached all the goals that I wanted to reach.

JTH: So you went to high school in Texas, right?  Okay, I’m going to ask you a random question – is it truly like Friday Night Lights for real?

JP: Oh yeah, oh yeah!  Easy!  They had three high schools in Plano.  I went to Plano West.  We had two stadiums, Clark and Kimbrough.  I think Clark seats about 20,000 and Kimbrough seats about 15,000.  The biggest crowd I played in front of in high school had to be; I want to say, close to 50,000.  That was the playoffs.  People don’t understand.  Football is like religion down here.  Yeah man, it goes Friday, high school; Saturday, college; and Sunday, NFL.

JTH: So it’s not as far-fetched as they try to make it seem on the TV show then, huh?

JP: It’s not that over the top.  But, it’s big though.  You see cities shut down.  There’s places like that.  Stadiums are packed full of people.  I mean, it’s big.  You have radio stations; they’ll play it on TV.  Stuff like that.
