Ezzy Castellon is a rising actress from New York that is producing quality productions alongside her partner Joseph Dominick Martinez. Her lastest show “Once Upon A Caterpillar” is a one-woman show performed by Ezzy Castellon and directed by Joseph Dominick Martinez. They are consistently bringing their message to the masses through their hilariously comedic and dynamic shows. It’s exciting to see Faith Based Latino’s make moves in “Out the Box Ways”. Both are in tune with the Urban culture and Joseph Dominick Martinez is an awesome photographer that has helped out with one of Christian Hip-Hop’s biggest conferences “Flavor Fest”. Check out this great interview we did with Ezzy Castellon!!!!
DaSouth Latino:
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
Ezzy Castellon:
I am awesome! Aside from that I love God and I love theater.
DaSouth Latino:
When did you begin acting, writing, and producing productions?
Ezzy Castellon:
I began acting at the age of 12. I’ve competed and acted with various drama teams since then.
DaSouth Latino:
Tell us about the “Once Upon A Caterpillar Show”.
Ezzy Castellon:
O.U.A.C. is a one women show based on the metamorphosis of a caterpillar. It’s hilariously comedic with a twist of reality presented by 4 different characters.
DaSouth Latino:
How do you integrate faith with your craft?
Ezzy Castellon:
I do not consider it “Integration”. For me, it’s worship through the branch of dramatic arts.

DaSouth Latino:
Are there any challenges as a faith based actress?
Ezzy Castellon:
One of the challenges that I’ve faced as a Christian actress is that some believers do not approve of my journey as an “Out The Box” actress.
DaSouth Latino:
What do you think makes the “Once Upon A Caterpillar Show” unique?
Ezzy Castellon:
This particular show is a work in progress. That in itself helps its “uniqueness”. Every time the show has been presented, it has been tailored to fit that specific audience or crowd.
DaSouth Latino:
What other shows have you been a part of or are planning to set in motion?
Ezzy Castellon:
Community Theater has been a huge part of my “Learning process”. Some of these shows have been: “Worlds Apart”, “Prodigal”, “Forever”, “Miracles” and “Miracles 2”. I have also written and produced other shows like “Ultimate Valentine” and “Where the Heart is”.
DaSouth Latino:
Who inspires you to keep things moving?
Ezzy Castellon:
God is my biggest inspiration. Most, if not all my creativity comes straight from him. Also watching Broadway shows and musicals makes me want to keep doing just that; acting.
DaSouth Latino:
What role does Joseph Dominick Martinez play in the creation of the “Once upon a Caterpillar Show”?
Ezzy Castellon:
Joseph was and is the spine of this show. He keeps my crazy behind focused & allows for my creative voice to be heard without judgment or expectations. He is truly anointed to be a Director/Producer.
DaSouth Latino:
How does your Hispanic culture influence your work?
Ezzy Castellon:
My culture causes me to reach for more. I can’t wait for the day that I see more Latino’s bringing some “Sazon” to Broadway! I pray that I can help usher in that movement.
DaSouth Latino:
How was it placing in the “Teatro LA Tea’s: The One Festival”?
Ezzy Castellon:
It was a small step towards our “Caterpillar Journey”. It was a way of realizing we can do this.
DaSouth Latino:
What are some of the challenges that come with maintaining momentum for a production like “Once Upon A Caterpillar”?
Ezzy Castellon:
Trying to stay away from labels is one thing that is a challenge. It’s so much more than a show. We just encourage people that it’s an experience not just entertainment.
DaSouth Latino:
Any advice you can give to people trying to get into the acting industry?
Ezzy Castellon:
If acting is your talent and someone with the appropriate lens identifies it within you, then just do it! No Excuses! Go do the things God created you to do!
DaSouth Latino:
Anything you would like the people to know that hasn’t been mentioned?
Ezzy Castellon:
I am a product of “Faith in Action”. I did not know where this “Caterpillar” journey was going. I still wonder. The only thing I know for sure is that I am where I should be. God is opening the right doors at his time. I just had to step out and do the things I was afraid of doing. This journey is a small portion of a big dream come true. With that being said, what dream did God give you? What will It take for you to go after it? Perhaps it’s time to Dream again!
