Lamp Mode Recordings artist God’s Servant releases “Make Way,” the first single off of his upcoming album entitled Diadem. The song and video are meant to provide a lens with which to view the rest of the album. The idea of “Make Way” comes from the time when heralds would proclaim the coming of a king or someone important. That someone important is not God’s Servant, but the Lord Jesus. Diadem will release on January 28th, 2014.
The direction of the video was to remove God’s Servant from the center of attention, which in turn reveals that he himself is focusing on something else. The posture and lighting in the video reminds you that there is someone else more important to look upon, even as his performance shots keep him shrouded in the shadows. “To me it’s kind of the spear at the end of the staff for the album”, said God’s Servant, “so the rest of the album is kind of thrusting the spear forward.” This is just the first taste of Diadem and from the sound of it, this spear is going far.
