“Really I see myself as a Christian rapper. I like to infuse the evangelism in my philosophy of ministry, so like evangelistic Christian rap and I hope to leave a legacy of the gospel, for people understanding God’s heart and mind better.”

FLAME is a Christian hip-hop artist from St. Louis, Missouri who in July released his 8th album, Forward. The name FLAME comes from the book of Jeremiah in the Old Testament. FLAME thinks of himself like Jeremiah because he says hard things to people that don’t want to hear his message. Jeremiah said to God that “your word is like a fire shut up in my bones” and Flame thinks this scripture does a good job to describe his passion for God.

FLAME grew up around Christianity and regularly prayed and read his bible growing up, but believes that he did not have a saving relationship with God until his high school years. When he was in high school, FLAME was in a bad car wreck that could have ended his life.

He asked his grandmother hard questions about Heaven, Hell, and other questions along the lines of “Why would God let this happen?” and his grandmother told him that he needed to repent. FLAME dated a girl who took him to church and believes that he got saved after hearing the gospel at this church at age sixteen.
