The life of a Believer in Christ is one filled with many conflicts and battles.  It’s good to know that He established our victory already and that as we fight, we fight from victory.  This is the attitude that FEDEL brings with his latest album FLAW (Fight Like A Winner).

For those who have been listening to FEDEL for any length of time will know that he always brings that aggressive front with bold truth to his music.  There’s no mistaking that he is living for Christ and battling the kingdom of darkness.  His previous albums and mixtapes have no doubt been anthems for believers to put on blast as they throw those one-two punches.  FEDEL takes the next step with FLAW and helps the listener begin to understand not only that they should fight, but gives us encouragement in how they should fight!  Just like a 12 round fight, this album is packed with combos that you won’t want to miss.  So, in this corner….FEDEL.

Like every great fighter who enters an arena to face an opponent, FEDEL begins this instruction manual with an anthem to let us know who he is and Whose he is!  “FLAW (Fight Like A Winner)” is a title track that not only describes the premise of the rest of the album.  Every good fighter knows that if you can get in the head of your opponent, then you’ve got the upper hand.  You have to “Fight Like A Winner”  Despite what the circumstances may be.  Despite who opposes you.  Despite what anyone has said about you.  FEDEL opens up honestly with the struggles that the enemy brings and how he overcomes through grace.

Now that the fighters have been announced, we see FEDEL come out swingin’ with help from KB to give us all encouragement that my God ain’t got “No Ceilings”, but gives grace to sinners.  The truth in this track is like an uppercut that knocks the enemy on the mat.  If you are discouraged, blast this track until your confidence that God has a purpose for your life gives you the confidence to face what is in front of you.

If you are in a fight, then you want to make sure you can outlast the one you are fighting.  That’s one of the many ways you can tell someone is the real deal!  FEDEL hits the idea of those who are in the fight like it’s a game with “Favorite Rapper”.  Just like the difference between a good and bad trainer, FEDEL speaks on bad techniques from those who rap, but aren’t trying to build the Kingdom.

FEDEL uses “Proud” and “Didn’t Know” to give us a bit of history of where he came from and how God used that to make him the man he is today!  He lets us know “What they call ignorant and dumb, I call somethin out of nothin’.  I’m proud of where I come from!”  We should never be ashamed of where God has brought us from.  “If you didn’t know, now you know noooooowwwwwww.”

Another quality of a prized fighter is the character of someone who can’t be bought.  There might be those in the “industry” or the “world” who might try to get you to throw a fight.  FEDEL gets in the face of this mentality with “Off The Shelf”!  He is sold out, “They ain’t got nothin’ in the back!”  When we get faced with compromise or tempation, put this track on blast and let the enemy know “I’m off the shelf!”

Every fighter always has an entourage that works like a group of comrades to protect him or her so they don’t get injured before the fight.  They also can function as the main support for the fighter as well, commanding heavy influence for those who come to see the fighter in each match.  FEDEL doesn’t just have an entourage, he’s got followers that don’t just support him, they “Act A Clown” at his shows because everyone knows when FEDEL is in town he “Run The Crowd”.  If you have a chance to make it out to a FEDEL show, don’t miss it.  You’ll leave “Always ready for whatever”!

“Always” is another track packed with truth.  Derek Minor pairs up with FEDEL for a two on one, hitting up the same mind that Christ had in the Garden of Gethsemane…”No not mine, but Your will be done.”  When you are in a fight, or prepping for one, there are always unexpected things that happen.  FEDEL is giving us some wisdom from a seasoned fighter here.  God can and often will call us to action, will we be “always ready for whatever”?

“Love The Feeling” is another combo track with Social Club that gives us some perspective of what it looks like to “Fight Like A Winner”!  FEDEL lets us know that he loves the feeling “when I step up in the building”!  If you want to win a fight, you gotta be fierce when engaging the enemy.  Coming back to fighting from victory, we can love the feeling because we know He got this.

One of the final lessons we learn as we go through the final chapters of this manual is that each fighter has their own way of fighting.  FEDEL lets us know that we shouldn’t try to copy others, and just like us he has “My Own Style”!  Because we are “Fearfully and wonderfully made”, to try and fight with someone else’s style will bring defeat.  So, maintain your own style.

The last chapter of instruction of FLAW is probably one of the most important.  FEDEL pairs up with Tim Halperin on “You Know” to address one of the biggest fights we can face, the one with ourselves.  Mental battles, depression, people pleasing, etc….  This final anthem gives us the greatest council we could receive when walking with Christ and fighting for the Kingdom: Surrender All.

This album has some timeless instruction that if we will embrace it with what Christ has already established can truly Fight Like A Winner everyday.
