He started to rap in high school to keep up with his fellow students, and he also downloaded production software FruityLoops to start making beats. Many of his competitor dance groups had members who rapped and made music, and he and his group didn’t want to be left behind.

When he was in 11th or 12th grade, he said the youth pastor at his church took in Dwight and discipled him. After graduating high school, he spent the next year as an intern for this pastor.
