Bio/Notes: In the midst of all the noise and chaos out there (music/media) that keeps young people everywhere mesmerized, the LORD is raising up His own musicians to revive those lost and hopeless. Of these musicians, there is a 19 year old independent rapper and producer who goes by d.J., which stands for ‘disciple of Jesus’ and also his real name Dillon Jackson. From his hometown near Medford, Oregon to Redding, California and the Bay Area, California, d.J. has lived and experienced both the small town & urban city life, and it is d.J.’s mission to “positively affect the culture of this generation for Jesus Christ, especially through hip hop music EVERYWHERE”. d.J.’s main influences are Lecrae, Trip Lee, Flame, (and all of the other CMR and Reach Records artists), and he’s musically inspired by producers like: K-Drama, JR, and Tony Stone. d.J. has performed at many different concerts and shows in southern Oregon and northern California opening for artists: Flame, Everyday Process, Braille, Grits, and Transparent. So far, d.J. has released one independent mixtape entitled the “Great Escape” in 2008 and is currently set to release a second mixtape on 5.21.2010 entitled “THE RESPONSE” in which he is focused entirely on responding to current popular hip hop songs by remixing them into ones that glorify God. Also, he is currently producing and writing songs for a future full-length album TBA in 2011.
d.J. is plugged in to Church at Applegate Christian Fellowship under Pastor John Courson and Ben Courson. d.J. is currently a sophomore student in college and he spent his first year and a half at Simpson University in Redding, CA, where he focused on Bible classes and studied the Bible in depth. Recently, however, in January 2010 d.J. left Simpson University at the Lord’s direction. Now, he is currently studying at a local community college until Fall 2010 when, Lord willing, he will transfer back to a university somewhere, wherever the Lord leads!
