Brief Artist Bio:
DéRonté Polite is a North Carolina native raised by his grandparents. Though he was raised in a Christian home, it was not until the age of 18 that his personal journey with Jesus began; on the campus of North Carolina A&T State University. Coincidentally, it was at this point in time that he penned his first poem, which detailed his desire to follow the Lord but his contradicting choices and actions. This poem resembled the Apostle Paul’s writings in Romans 7, even though DéRonté had yet to read this passage so early in his walk. Through many ups and downs; the Lord remained faithful and DéRonté preached his first sermon in December of 2005. It was that same year that he was introduced to Christian Hip Hop, when a friend handed him “The Faith” by Da’ T.R.U.T.H. Though the Hip-Hop culture had a major influence on DéRonté as a teenager and therefore had been denounced once he decided to walk with Jesus, hearing that album by Da’ T.R.U.T.H. brought joy to his soul as he was able to partake in an art form that he loved, and be encouraged in the Lord at the same time.
Years later, with the prodding of his local church, DéRonté wrote and recorded his first album entitled “Abundance of the Heart.” A year later he recorded a remake album entitled “Unleashed” which was remakes of songs by popular Christian Hip-Hop artists.
DéRonté currently lives in Dayton, Tennessee, where he is the assistant women’s basketball coach at Bryan College. DéRonté has been married to his wife Sarah for three years, and has a daughter named Zion.
