(Demetrius Alexander Springer) is an amazingly gifted voice for Christ in the Christian Rap Community. His music stands out in the midst of a scene that is greatly over-populated with commercial and repetitious sound. Deacon’s authority on the microphone is unmistakable. But greatly surpassing his musical prowess is his humility and hunger for God.
In 2006, Now known as “Deacon D.A.S.” Demetrius released his first recording as a Christian artist. The EP, entitled, “Deaconstruction: Destroy and Rebuild” was the first project released by Ain’t Yo Average Music. His work on the Deaconstruction EP earned Demetrius several feature slots on various albums and compilations. Most notably was his addition to the Christian Rap group, “ANTHUM”. Their self-titled EP released in 2007.
Demetrius has now turned his sights toward his debut album. The first full-length release from Deacon D.A.S. is another first for A.Y.A. Music. The album, entitled, “Losing My Religion” was officially released March 17th, 2009. Peers and fans alike have called “Losing My Religion” his best work yet. “Losing My Religion by Deacon D.A.S. is so Outta Space. The album features guest appearances by Virtuous, J-Reign, Steps of The Just, mTribs, Candace Bryant, Matthew Bracey, and k-Drama. Production is also handled by k-Drama on over half the album. Other noteworthy tracks are provided by Beatstreet Productions, Jay Tha Kid, and the amazing Tony Stone.
