He became serious about being a rapper when he was in high school. He loved the attention of being praised for his rapping abilities and started battle rapping. “I’m like, ‘Yo, I’m actually good at this thing.’ Then I started recording after I graduated high school.” Datin believes that battle rapping has influenced his rapping in his aggression, punchlines, cadence, and wordplay.

“I think its what makes me me as far as an artist.”

Starting after he graduated high school, Datin pursued a career as a rapper and made it far in the underground hip-hop industry. “Right around the time when I was champion on 106 & Park, “The Passion of the Christ had come out.” When he saw the film, Datin said it was like God’s first jab at him. “He punched me in the chin to let me know He was after me.”

Datin was part of a rap group and when he was towards the top of his ascension in the industry, one of his fellow group members told him that he had to quit because he had given his life to Jesus. “It convicted me, like, ‘Yo, you’re willing to walk away from all of this to pursue the Lord?’ I tried to talk him out of it, it really didn’t work. He cut pretty much all of his friends off except me.”
