As many of you know, Jam the Hype became part of the Urban Youth Worker’s Institute (UYWI) earlier this year.  As part of that move, we are part of one of the biggest networks for content creators in Christian urban life – pastors and youth pastors.  Over the coming months and years we will begin to tap into the UYWI network for thought leadership on a variety of topics from life, music and all forms of art, to making a difference in our communities.  Our thought all along has been to bring you great content whether it’s music, film, visual, spoken and written word.  As an example, we now have D.A. Horton as part of our team.  D.A. was formerly part of Reach Life Ministries for Reach Records.  He’ll be sharing content on both ours and the UYWI site and apps, with his wisdom and insight.  I hope you will see the difference in our content as we move forward and work with thought leaders like D.A.

Here’s a letter from our Executive Director, Larry Acosta:

For over 20 years, UYWI has been identifying and developing next gen urban leaders to reach urban youth in the hardest parts of our cities and to lead the Church into the future. The future is now and the world is young, urban and multiethnic. Never has the need for bold visionary urban leadership been greater than it is.

To help us lead in this new reality, and to share in our mission: to power the urban youth worker so that urban youth have the leaders and role models they need to live transformed lives by the Gospel of Jesus Christ, we would like to gratefully announce the addition of D.A. Horton to the UYWI leadership team as Chief Evangelist!

D.A. is a longtime friend of UYWI since his youth ministry and then church planting days in Kansas City. We so appreciate D.A.’s heart for shaping urban leaders, his passion for the Gospel as well as his deep commitment to solidly teaching God’s Word. He is the featured speaker in UYWI’s Discipleship Toolkit (DKIT.UYWI.ORG) and is quickly becoming the face of the organization to the next generation through this most relevant urban discipleship resource!

Please join me in welcoming D.A. to our team and be on the lookout for his featured resources on our UYWI and Jam the Hype websites and mobile apps.
