Davis was born on September 8, 1988 in Houston, TX to Ms. Jacqueline Lewis. As a young child growing up in the church, his mother often attempted to instill the values of Christ in him. While struggling to live life with the absence of his biological father and his step father and mother divorcing, D. Davis began to write poetry at the age of 9, but like many other kids the temptations of Satan and the sins of this world became more attractive to him. Throughout middle school he continued his writings and began to convert them into worldly rap lyrics contributed to the peer pressures and the bullying he endured in school. His freshman year in high school his family moved to Dallas, TX where Satan began to wage a full out war on his life. Smoking, drinking, and sexual acts, became a vital part of his life, and he lost sight of GOD. It is during this time that his faith in GOD would truely be tested, as he was also medically diagnosed as being a Sickle Cell Trait Carrier. He became active in church by singing in the youth choir and became the president of the youth ushers at Saint John Baptist Church under Pastor Denny D. Davis. It is here that he first met two young men, Marcell Tennyson and Leonard Madison that GOD would use to transform his life for the better forever. They instantly became best friends and brothers in life and Christ. They struggled with the sins of this world together and formed a rap group named the Joker Boyz. After GOD placed a strong conviction on all of their hearts, they transformed their music into gospel. After barely graduating high school, he and his mother moved back to Houston, TX where he began working at Little Caesars Pizza, which is where he met another man of GOD placed in his life to get him back to the path of righteousness. Warren Hill and D. Davis formed a group called Holy Ghost Hustle in September of 2006 after Duane answered God’s calling on his birthday to fully devote his life and music to GOD. After joining the U.S. Navy Reserves, D. Davis again picked up the pen and pad and continued God’s work, and in September of 2007 he released his first gospel mixtape, G.O.D. Get Out Devil. In January of 2009 he signed to Glynn Berry’s record label, God Blessed Recordings, and was promoted to General Manager of God Blessed Enterprises in July of 2009. He left that company in October of 2009 and continued pushing his ministry. In March 2010 he began working with Trevor Lee of Von Won’s Southern Xposure Entertainment/Warner Bros Recors/Asylum Records/Def Vibe Gospel. Over the next few months Trevor introduced D. Davis to the mainstream industry of Houston Holy Hip Hop. He is working on building his ministry, his music, his company, and his relationship with GOD. Currently working on his 1st major project,Two Faced, which is a personal testimony and God given mission statement dealing with hypocritical christians and many other topics. D. Davis is still doing the work of God by spreading his message to the best of his abilities. God has placed it in his heart that he will be the voice of this lost and dying generation. He currently resides in Houston, TX, and attends New Light Christian Center Church under the leadership of Bishop I.V. Hilliard. |
