Bio/Notes: New to the music scene, singer/songwriter Clarise Hicks is making a name for herself with a new style of Christian music called, Free Prophetic Worship. She is best known for her gift of exaltation through her writings of poetry and songs.
She has collaborated her soulful yet melodic vocals with a mixture of styles that cater to the ear of all her listeners. The styles of music featured on her cd titled Free (Prophetic Worship) include neo-soul, rock, R&B, hip hop and techno. Clarise is hoping to heighten the worship experience by putting the focus purely on, who God is and who each individual person is through Him.
Clarise is a native of Lynchburg, VA where she started singing in her Sunbeam choir between the ages of 5 and 8 years old. She grew up with a love for R&B and admits that she didn’t have an interest in singing gospel music, until she was in her late 20’s. After realizing that her call was to serve God through writing songs and poetry, she started to seriously consider Gospel music.
As she became more involved in shows and events in her local area, she began to desire taking Christian Worship to another level. She found herself connecting with VaTalent.com and performing in their open mic’s as well as a host of other promotional shows. After performing at open mic’s hosted by Radio City Radio, where she introduced her talents of poetry and songs she was asked to co-host on their local internet radio show (www.wwrm.org). Clarise happily accepted the position.
Although, she was not expecting one of the songs from her cd to get any kind of response, she decided to submit it on the show. Surprisingly, “Is It the Way”, went number one in 5 weeks after being voted onto the countdown.
Clarise aspires to encourage the desire of a greater worship experience in the hearts of many. She doesn’t limit herself to the possibilities of a greater future in the music industry but she will continue to serve God and keep her sights toward her faith in Christ Jesus as she pursues her musical journey.
