Will Christon Gray & Swoope Create A Collaborative Project?
After going on the Southern Lights nationwide tour, Collision Records artists Alex Faith and Dre Murray announced that they would be dropping a collaborative EP titled Southern Lights. Will Christon Gray and Swoope release an EP as a duo sometime after the tour is complete? We still think it’s possible.
“I don’t know if we will do an EP.” – Swoope
“Are we doing an EP? (laughs)” – Christon Gray
“I will almost venture to say no in that we are very vocal about Northern Lights being a branch off or subsidiary of Southern Lights,” Swoope said.
“With that being said, we don’t want to be like ‘Alex and Dre did it so we need to do it too.’ Chris and I have a very great working musical chemistry and great relationship behind the scenes. So like you said, we will always be doing music, but we don’t want to be forced into [it] because Alex and Dre did it. Everything we’ve done thus far, Wake Up, School of Roses, WLAK stuff, has been very organic. Like this feels right. So the ‘We better do an EP because they did it” mindset isn’t necessarily something that we are walking in. If it comes up organically like ‘Hey man, this feels like the best move for both of us’ than yea, but at the moment, that’s not necessarily on the forefront of our minds.”
“Alex and Dre did a very good job of branding the Southern Lights tour,” Christon Gray said.
“I think it was with them being the pioneers of it, [it] was only necessary for them to do a project because of the overwhelming response. One thing I can say about me and Swoope is that the principle of the matter is if people want more music from us, they can definitely expect that, both individually and collectively. Whether we title it Northern Lights or something totally different, like Swoope said, we just don’t want to be forced into it. I’ve heard fans say it and we haven’t ignored that.”
