Swoope Gives Insight On What’s Next For The WLAK Collective
WLAK is a movement that consists of Christon Gray, Swoope, Alex Faith, and Dre Murray. Their self-titled project, which was released in 2013, debuted at #1 Billboard Gospel Albums, #6 Billboard Christian Albums, #7 Billboard Rap Albums, and #81 Billboard Top 200 chart.
“WLAK was started more as a movement and less as a group,” Swoope told us.
“I think the success of the album kind of told people we were a group. In all actuality, it wasn’t meant to be a group thing; it was more of a specialty project. So, at the moment, Alex Faith and Dre Murray are working on Southern Lights, Christon is working on music. I’m working on music, so a WLAK project isn’t necessarily on the table, but the precepts and concepts that the movement is built upon is what we all walk in. We do live as kings through the power of the living king Jesus Christ and the standards and kind of model and prototype that he set out. We seek to follow that. In theory, WLAK is alive and well. Will you see music from it? I’m not sure. Can’t say yes or no.”
