It’s 2014, and there’s no question that in the past decade, the sub-genre known as ‘Christian hip-hop’ has produced an increasing amount of formidable and innovative lyricists.  Ask the average CHH fan about their favorite wordsmiths and names like Swoope, JGivens, Dre Murray, R Swift, Bizzle, Ruslan of The BREAX, Sho Baraka, JusThoughtz, Da T.R.U.T.H., Japhia Life, Tragic Hero, and many more quickly come to mind.  Strangely enough, there’s a plethora of emcees from NYC who could more than hang artistically and lyrically with the aforementioned names and yet they’re barely mentioned, get radio play, get interviewed or mentioned as being highly anticipated in a lot of Christian hip hop media.

Sure there’s Andy Mineo, who has had major success as a Reach Records artist, along with emcees like HeeSun Lee, K. Sparks, Richie Righteous, the legendary Corey Red, Precise, and J.A.Z., but there’s a strong collective of great NYC emcees who’ve never cracked the iTunes charts or did the major festivals to a lack of national or even regional support or opportunities.  In light of this, Jam The Hype has assembled a list of ten emcees (plus a couple of honorable mentions) expected to drop projects in 2014 that the ‘CHH’ community nationwide should get behind.  Lastly, S/O to the up & comers & established acts like R.Q.TEK, Th3 Saga, Shawn DeBerry a.k.a. Harlem Witness, Angelica Stewa f.k.a. Angelic Worshipper, Glamour, P.K., Rigz, Seb Young, 3D REMEDY, Angie Rose, Kei-Kei, Joe Boss, Pyro, New Vision, Malakai Tha Truth (currently on hiatus), and more who’ve made a considerable impact within the NEW YORK CITY CHH community.
