“Need You (Right Now)” was written at a time where I felt unable to stay true to the path I had chosen to take. I felt inadequate in so far as my observance of what I thought was right living. I cried out for help and that cry morphed into the chorus lyrics. I still listen to it today, and think of how far deep beneath the surface I felt I was. I realized that sometimes we don’t need to know it all and have it all together. Sometimes we need to say ‘please help me’, ‘I need you’ or ‘how do you do this’. With whom we are vulnerable with is another story altogether. For me, I chose to be naked before the amazing Power of Eternity, Christ.

NB: On the hook, “Usitumane Uje Mwenyewe” is a Swahili phrase that says “Lord, don’t send anyone, you’re the one that I need”
