Where is the distinction in Gospel Rap, hip hop, or whatever you want to call it. When I watched the video it made me think more about Voodoo & chants, rather than Christ & His Gospel. Its just like when I wrote a song to 21 Q’s by Fifty, several years ago, the kids I performed in front of were not listening to my lyrics, no they were dancing because they knew it was a song by Fifty.
Somebody needs to say something, man we were called out of Darkness to Light, not to go back & mimic the Darkness, but to bring Light w/o using the worlds methods & tactics. I know alot of Reach Fans will disagree with me, but its getting to the point where I can’t tell the difference between some of Reaches videos & Jay Z’s videos. But as a Rapper for Christ, I’ll keep all the artists in prayer along with myself, because I know I’m nothing without HIM.
Christ Is The#1MC As far as I’m looking at it, they’re just dancing around a fire…although the video may represent something that some may designate as evil, I’m sure there are those believers who celebrate our God in a similar manner in other countries.
Christians are very good at turning pagan rituals/holidays into something less-evil. For example…Christmas and Easter. Both celebrations are rooted in pagan rituals and traditions. As sinners by birth, we will always and can almost always reflect our life and surroundings in both either a Christian or non-Christian manner. It’s a matter of interpretation and the message behind it.
Now when you take Andy’s message into account to the video, it’s very symbolic and representative and I’m sure the video’s theming was very intentional based on the content of the song. Just my two cents.
@Walker116, I admit I was completely turned off at first. But something stood with me when AM said, “If I talk like Jesus the Christians love me, but if I walk like Jesus they all Judge me”. Or something along those lines, but yeah after watching it & talking it over with my wife I totally get it. Andy’s taking the Light into dark places, if we don’t take the Light to them, who will.
