FUTUREGEN starts with “Hail The King,” a song of praise showcasing Jesus as the most important figure.
The second song, “Chance” presents listeners with a challenge “to give God everything in their lives and to see their lives as their one and only chance [to] really glorify God and enjoy Him the way [that] we were made to live,” said Ock. He says that living to glorify God is the best life that anyone can have.
“It also is the biggest risk to surrender your life, because that means you might turn up anywhere for God’s mission.”
“Get It” is a track on FUTUREGEN reminding people that God guides them to repentance. CL says it was about “how we take the word repentance and the truth of repentance very lightly as believers. We don’t really confess. We don’t really repent. We don’t really live that out per se.” In reflection, he believes that his repentance can often be hollow.
Following “Get It” is “Keep Me.” “Keep Me” is a very personal song, crying out to God for help with struggles and doubts. CL said, “particularly for me, I think one of the biggest things has always been [that] we do all this stuff and are trying to be missional, then it’s kind of life, ‘Well God, what about these people over here?’”
He thinks about family and friends whom he has been praying for the faith of over the years, and questioning why it is that he does not see change in their lives.
“For me that’s a real struggle. Sometimes I’m like ‘I don’t want to do some of this stuff if You [God] are not going to do this.”
Despite these doubts, in the song CL wants to remind people that God remains sovereign with a plan, and that God needs to be trusted whether or not the fruits of our prayers and efforts are able to be seen.
“A lot of AMP’s music is sharing our personal stories and experiences in those different contexts to be able to encourage people.”
