Chris Elijah is an artist that gives real southern soul food feel from his music.  When I heard Chris’s flow I am reminded of Bun B, The Hot Boyz, 8-ball & MJG. And still, he rhymes like a classic southern dope emcee.  If you ever struggled with letting go of secular rap because you loved artist like 2Chainz, Meek Mills, Rick Ross etc. Chris Elijah Dethroned Wilderness maybe your answer prayer. You can tell from the pain in his voice that God has brought him through much. One of the best things about Chris is that he is easy to relate to. You will not hear Chris Elijah talking down to the listener like he is the perfect Christian. Instead, you can picture a man who often cries for the help of Jesus. Chris Elijah raps as he has first hand experience in the Trap (drug infested hood). It is great to know that our good Lord brought him out of the trap so he can tell his testimony.

Here are a few of the favorites:

  • Beautiful Smile –  This track has great story about how the flesh is weak on so many levels – women, money, and putting on fake smiles that are not real. powerful
  • GOD100 is when Chris Elijah breaks out the pen! I mean his bars are outta control. If you love the new ATL style of rap, this song will have everyone with dreadlocks going hard in the paint.
  • Dont Make No Sense ft. Nick Life & Shbick is a real sober look at the grace of God on sinful men. It dont make no sense how much he loves us is the theme. The southern vibe is like you are drinking koolaid from a mayonnase jar. I would have loved to hear a song with his brother and Collision Record’s Dre Murray.

Also check out S.A.W., ErThang, Space For Me and more here at the listening session.  If Chris Elijah gets around with his sound and the right people hear him, he has the potential to be one of the new leaders of the next phase of CHH.
