Born Allen C. Aur, Al Casso was born and raised by a single mother and grew up the oldest of five children in the Lafayette Projects of Baltimore, Maryland. His name and music have been inspired by his life- a life full of great joy and intense sadness. Called one of the most creative voices in (holy) hip-hop today,” by the Baltimore Times Newspaper, Al Casso was given his name by rap artist Noe Money while collaborating on a song entitled “Getting Hotter.”
He began his hip-hop career as “Allen B” on a local radio station, where he debuted his first single, “Let’s Cut The Bull.” Gaining instant popularity with the listeners, the song was constantly requested and earned its way into regular rotation at WERQ 92.3 FM. While “Let’s Cut The Bull” was still getting a lot of air time and Al Casso was waiting for his break into the recording industry, he left the industry briefly to become a truck driver in order to help his family meet their financial obligations. However, even while driving tractor trailers, music and performing were never far from his thoughts, and his life continued to inspire new songs. The murder of Al Casso’s younger brother brought forth “Missin U,” which honors his short life and mourns his untimely death.
After a series of getting high and alcohol consumption, he met a co-worker who was a pastor. He was then invited to the St. Martin Church of Christ where he met Jesus and got saved. Since, Al Casso has moved on to become a full time single dad, and create a new hip-hop for the building of God’s Kingdom. His song entitled “THE OTHER SIDE” was inspired by his desire for everyone to make it into heaven. Songs produced by Dwayne Satterfield (x-guitar player for then 90’s R&B group “Jodeci”). |
