Few rappers/emcees will ever wear the title of legend, leader, and pioneer. When it comes to The Ambassador, he is a certified legend in Christian Hip Hop and has held the title of CHH’s main leader for years. Some could argue he still is its main leader, being many of the newer Christian emcees don’t enjoy being called “Christian Hip Hop.” The Ambassador’s musical resume’ is ridiculous, to say the least. He is seen by most as the face of pioneering collective Cross Movement and has accomplished industry milestones like attaining a Grammy nomination, hundreds of thousands of albums sold, releasing classic solo albums (Christology & The Thesis etc.), and inspiring the likes of Lecrae, Da T.R.U.T.H., and Flame, to name a few (and I mean “a few”). He has accomplished all the things mentioned above with Jesus Christ being the central theme in his music and life. Now THAT’S leaving a legacy. Let’s not forget that he is a stellar example for rising Christian lyricists, when you consider how he has handled different situations and the fact that education is important to him. He is gearing up to pursue a PHD in North Carolina at South Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary. The Ambassador’s impact on our genre can’t be accurately described in one post.
One of the artists who have been impacted by his presence, art, and philosophies is Grammy-nominated heavyweight Da T.R.U.T.H. The Ambassador and Da T.R.U.T.H. have crafted songs together (“Feels Good,” “Star Struck,” and more). They have performed together, been on the same label (CMR & Xist), have similar philosophies, both uphold the importance of Christian education, and Amba is known as T.R.U.T.H.’s mentor. Let’s not forget that when it comes to music, Da T.R.U.T.H. is a Christian Hip Hop legend as well. The man has Grammy nominations for two albums (Open Book and The Big Picture), charted well on various charts, sold thousands of units, and has won various awards. So when it comes to The Ambassador and Da T.R.U.T.H., they are not only friends, but both are top tier artists.
Why hasn’t The Ambassador & Da T.R.U.T.H. put together a collaborative album?
Will these two talented individuals ever put together something like Jay-Z & Kanye West Watch the Throne or Eminem & Royce Da 5’9 Hell: The Sequel?
How come secular heavyweights are down to fuse sounds but Christian Hip Hop doesn’t do it often?
Have they thought about it? (Da T.R.U.T.H. and The Ambassador)
Could it really happen?
These are some of the questions that could run through someone’s mind when the facts of their relationship are laid out before their eyes.
Chris Chicago on his Jam The Hype Show got to ask The Ambassador about whether or not he will be doing a collaborative project with Da T.R.U.T.H. within the next year or two.
Amba made us really excited when he said,
“That’s very much something that has been discussed before. We were going to do it, but the timing wasn’t right. I would be surprised if that never happens, so I could see that.”
Da T.R.U.T.H. recently announced that he is launching a record label titled “Mixed Bag” and The Ambassador just dropped his Hors D’Oeuvres EP on August 20. Amba made it clear that his current musical focus is on his upcoming project Flame On, so the collaborative project seems to not be a priority at the moment.
Be on the lookout for more information on The Ambassador’s 5th solo studio album Flame On, and keep your eyes open for that collaborative project.
The Ambassador would be surprised if it didn’t happen!
