Cleveland, OH – Jan. 4, 2012— Pardon The Movement Music has scheduled the anticipated release of Generation of Grey, Big Cleve’s latest album for January 15th, 2012.
Generation of Grey is a sixteen track album depicting what it means to “be in the world and not of it,” the joys and battles that come with everyday living. Through tracks like “Left to Myself” Big Cleve tells of the struggles that he experiences as a pastor, father, husband and man. He declares the reality of his own sinful nature mitigated by the grace that dependent living in Christ Jesus provides. Alongside it is “Unbroken” where Big Cleve narrates the effectiveness of the gospel in a world that seems to have no hope. Big Cleve surprises in the middle of the album laying his heart on the mic in “Bliss,” a love rhyme to his wife, and wraps the album up with “Last Time,” a heartfelt prayer of repentance, making Generation of Grey an auditory tour of life and love, battles and victory.
“Generation of Grey is my assessment of a very present condition in the world today,” says Big Cleve. “Hip Hop is so childish at this point. The landscape of artistry is a plethora of sitcom characters and trap kings, mob bosses and whatever. There is a resurgence of good music out there and I strongly believe this album is an continuation of that. I don’t think anybody will be disappointed.”
The album features L9, KamBINO, Bumps Inf, Lil Prophet, True Story, Fred Council, Capt. Virtue and Webbz from the group Left For Dead, with production by Fred Council, Big Juice, Jeremiah Beats, Keith Fitten and Young Sixx. It was mixed and mastered in Cleveland’s Ante Up Studios.
Marques “Big Cleve” Evans was born and grew up in the inner city of Cleveland, Ohio. Although a self-identified church kid, Big Cleve remembers from a young age experiencing the pull between a life in the church and a life in the streets. Fast forward twenty years and Cleve has resolved that tension by planting and pastoring a church that seeks to be relevant to the culture of the streets with uncompromising adherence to the teaching of Jesus Christ.
Big Cleve has been making music for a number of years. Generation of Grey is his debut retail release and will be available on iTunes and pardonthemovement.net.
