On February 5, 2018, Reflection Music Group (Derek Minor and Doc Watson are both co-CEO) welcomed Bay Area-born hip-hop artist Illuminate to RMG Amplify, a label partnership division that provides marketing support to established independent artists.

Below is what Reflection Music Group posted on their website about the partnership with Illuminate.

RMG Amplify is proud to announce its newest soldier joining its ranks, Illuminate. The rap vet has run strong in the God Over Money Hog Mob circle and watched RMG progress through the Christian Hip-Hop ranks. He and RMG CEO Doc Watson were mutual friends for quite a while and decided now is the time to make a business partnership official.

“I’ve seen the way they handle projects from start to finish,” Illuminate shares about RMG. “I love the way they promote artists for their strengths. I have seen how Doc and the squad are doing so much for the culture and I’m excited to join in on being intentional about building it up.”

“Illuminate is a vet that has been grinding for quite a while,” Doc says. “He has a new project that is a little genre-bending and a fresh direction. I think people will love it.”

Illuminate started his rap career in the secular world where he was working with some of the top names in the game, like Fabulous, The Game, Snoop Dogg, E-40, Baby Bash, and Tech N9ne, to name a few, before he became a believer and stepped away from music. After a two-and-a-half year hiatus to focus on his walk and foundation, he connected with Sevin, Bizzle, and several other Christian emcees who were passionate about urban ministry. Illuminate traveled with Sevin in 2015 on the Pray 4 My Hood Tour where they reached more than 60 cities across the United States. He runs his own ministry, Illuminate The World, to continue touching people with the love of Jesus Christ.

With his newest project, ‘Winds and Waves,’ Illuminate seeks to portray a double meaning of the title for all people to find comfort and peace in. Drawing off his own personal experiences of battles with addiction, pride and pain, he paints a powerful narrative.

“Of course it’s talking about the storms of life, but if we endure through them, we will experience the winds of His grace and the waves of His glory,” he explains. “The latter is always greater than the former.”

Konata Small, Reconcile, Role Model Records, Roy Tosh, and Sada K. are also listed as RMG Amplify artists.
