In today’s age everybody is on a wave. More often than not that wave is not a spiritual one and not a wave that lasts. The Bible that those who are called Christians are no longer defined by what they were but by who they are in Christ. Paul says, “Behold, everything has become new” when he speaks about those who love God and are loved by Him. In New Wave, S.O. and Canon share their past experiences and are saying they are no longer participating in that but are on a new wave. Unlike a wave the world is on, this new wave is a lasting wave. A wave that is Spirit-filled and Christ exalting.
S.O. starts by saying “They be on the old, I be new” and Canon follows suits in his verse by stating “Don’t be worried if them folks don’t like you.” The suggestion here is simple, those who are on this new wave will face some sort of opposition. So this song serves as both a clear message to the world but also as an encouragement and anthem for the believer.
“New Wave” is from S.O.’s upcoming project These Things Take Time which will be releasing soon.
