GRAMMY-nominated Christian hip-hop legend, Da’ T.R.U.T.H., believes a lot of CHH pioneers don’t get the respect they deserve. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania-based emcee sees a difference in the way Christian hip-hop and mainstream hip-hop legends are treated by fans within their genres.
“It seems like the legends in mainstream hip-hop get the honor and respect that they deserve while in our genre they don’t,” Da’ T.R.U.T.H. said.
Da’ T.R.U.T.H. is working on a new album titled ‘It’s Complicated,’ which is expected to drop in 2016.
In 2014, T.R.U.T.H.’s seventh studio album, ‘HEARTBEAT,’ charted at number 8 on the Billboard Rap Albums chart.

I agree with Mr. Lambert here, a lot of youngins dont even give the pioneers of CHH the respect they deserve, matter of fact they wont even give them a listen. Our genre has a lot of creatives, but a lot of them just want to imitate the mainstream sound too. Give the OG’s a listen, support and buy the music, it will benefit us all!
I agree, real talk. There would be no Reach, Clearsight Music, RMG, etc. w/o pioneers like CM, Gospel Gangstas & TR’s. Straight up, give props where props is due folks.
I don’t think it’s the fans . It is the Industry whatever is reflected in the style at the moment on the radio is going to reflect on other genres that are doing that style regardless of what they are saying in Hip Hop.CHH fans are still getting the gospel through this tool of the message of Christ and God is allowing each generation in Hip Hop at other times in history to hear his message through Hip Hop music as we come closer to Christ return.
I think the knowledge about CHH artists lacks because people are still being exposed to this culture 24/7 365. Their isn’t enough content online and offline to expose newer artists ,cutting edge artists, relevant artists, and pioneering artists such as DaTruth. CHH is a entity on it’s own guided buy the holy spirit . God may not want you to get the glory but he get’s it through you proclaiming him not fans claiming your status in the culture or what you did or how dope you are sure we will talk about that as fans and that’s okay but that’s not the goal.
Artist shouldn’t worry or ask for respect that is the human part in us as hip hoppers to hope to achieve a level of status in Hip Hop because it’s a B-Boy thing and all B-Boys want respect because, you work hard at what you do in this culture when you battle emcee,break dance, graff write, or make good hip hop music. Yes we should acknowledge pioneering artists in CHH but like I said respect is a human connection if fans give it to you or not it doesn’t mean anything I would rather be humble and continue making music because I love the culture and I love what the Lord is doing with Hip Hop buy turning it towards him to hear the good news not us as artists to get respect no God get’s the respect not the artist .
I like Tunnel Rats ,Cross Movement,Verbs,Zane One,Deepspace 5,Corey Red,Secta 7, KJ-52 etc. .I love that the Lord used these artists to let me hear the gospel do I have to repsect them no because, it was what they said through the holy spirit that got my attention . Hip Hop was the platform that Christ used to grab my attention not their respect that they needed to earn from me.
I agree. I don’t even think GRITS and Knowdaverbs get the respect they deserve.
