Xist Music artist Gemstones (fka Gemini) is gearing up to drop his new album, Blind Elephant, on May 5, 2015. To the surprise of many hip-hop fans, Grammy award-winning emcee Lupe Fiasco released a music video for his 2006 collaboration with Gemstones (“It Just Might Be Okay”) only 5 days before Blind Elephant hits stores.

Today, Stones spoke on the visual being released 9 years after the song came out.

“Would just like to give a shout out to Lupe and the entire 1st & 15th family,” Gemstones said in an interview with JamTheHype.com. “I believe this was a subliminal way of showing me they see me and they support the release of my album. This record brings back so many good memories when we were young [and] hungry with a dream to be the best record label ever.”

For those unfamiliar with Gemstones’ story, he was once a member of Lupe Fiasco’s 1st & 15th imprint. Gemstones appeared on Fiasco’s classic albums Food & Liquor and The Cool. He left the label to focus on his faith. In 2010, he returned to rap with an independent release titled On The Road To Glory: My Story. In 2012, Stones dropped a critically acclaimed mixtape titled Elephant In The Room.

Lupe Fiasco decided to release a visual for “It Just Might Be Ok,” off his Food & Liquor album in the wake of the racial tension going on in our country.
