On March 2, RCA Records emcee Dee-1 kicked off his 3’s Up Tour in Chicago, Illinois at Schubas. Those who attended the windy city event got to see Grammy award-winning lyricist Lupe Fiasco, who is a friend of Dee-1 and a Chi-town native, open up the show. According to an Instagram post by @hustlesimmons, the legendary Lupe Fiasco performed his single “Deliver” [Warning: Explicit Content], a song that brings awareness to the struggles of his community.

Fiasco even challenged Dee-1 to answer the questions in the Q & A session in freestyle rap form.

New Orleans, Louisiana-based artist Dee-1 has been influenced by Chicago hip-hop. He counts Lupe Fiasco, Kanye West, and Common as three of his favorite emcees.

Dee talks about the positive impact Kanye West’s classic project The College Dropout had on him in his recently released Chicago freestyle. On February 18, Lupe co-signed Dee-1’s 3’s Up, which is currently #9 on the Billboard Rap Albums chart.
