DJ KB is feeling the love this Valentine’s Day.

The 6 Way St. deejay, who also spins records for the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever, is dropping a free mixtape entitled Love Is… this Saturday. The project is in conjunction with One Accord DJ Alliance.

With the re-branding of the group name – 6 Way St. was previously Level 3:16 – as well as some individual re-branding efforts of her own, DJ KB thought a free Valentine’s Day release would be the perfect way to start off 2015.

“I re-branded my company at the top of this year… just got a whole new look as new opportunities were coming my way,” DJ KB said. “I was trying to navigate how to tread those waters, so to speak. Somebody asked me, ‘What are you going to be putting out in February?’ And I thought I could release a love mixtape.”

The Valentine’s Day release has been a long time in the making.

DJKB224“Two years ago, I started it and I was like, ‘Uhhhh, it’s not ready,’ DJ KB said about the origin of the project. “I never released it. Two years later, I was like, ‘I’m going to pick this back up and put out the project.’”

Not all of the songs on the mixtape are overtly Christian songs, but the Indiana Pacers deejay believes all of the themes in the songs are in accordance with her faith. DJ KB believes the project appeals to wide array of people, from the students she mentors to the fans of the 6 Way St.

“I think everybody should download it,” she said. “Here’s the thing. For the past two years, with 6 Way St. I had a concentrated Christian audience. Then, for the past two years, my second season with the Indiana Pacers, I have an audience of individuals that isn’t explicitly Christian. So I think for the believer or the non- believer, this mixtape is relevant because it’s a discussion starter for what love is.

“You’ll hear perspectives from people about what love is from the inner-city high school students from the class I teach on Wednesdays to pastors and leaders of Christian sports camps. It will be a wide variety of thought. If you enjoy music and don’t want to always turn up, turn up turn up … If you want something different for Valentine’s Day, I think you’ll enjoy this project.”

Jam The Hype will have the mixtape available on Valentine’s Day for download, so keep your eyes on the site when that happens! Until then, follow DJ KB on her social media below:
