What is Relentless?

Relentless is a fast-paced, adrenaline-stuffed thriller that combines intense action and heart-throbbing intrigue to keep you on the edge of your seat until the very last word.  It is the story of a young man named Derrin Aethelbeorn, a sophomore attending The Master’s College in Southern California. In one unexpected and tragic turn of events, he is kidnapped by a group of men and shoved into a black minivan. When he awakens from unconsciousness, he finds himself in a huge underground facility, along with many others who’d been kidnapped just like him. His captor, a spiteful man named Erebus, is forcing the men and women to work for him, controlling their minds through some mystical power that cannot be truly understood. Deepening the enchanting mystery, a legend given to Derrin speaks of a Liberator, a man who will free the innocent civilians and destroy the villain’s plot. He must find this Liberator before time runs out, but he soon realizes that it will not be an easy task. The Dark One, a nickname given to Erebus, has many men under his power, and his force is seemingly unstoppable. However, Derrin must at all costs follow the words written within the legend, and he must help the Liberator free the enslaved before the Dark One’s powerful weapon is unleashed upon the world. The resulting fight for freedom concludes with an explosion and a perilous firefight that will leave you breathless.

My name is Derrin Aethelbeorn. I’m a college sophomore majoring in Communications. Life is great; it’s hard balancing studies, exams, assignments, a daily routine, and a part-time job, but I can adjust to things pretty quickly.

This is really the first time I can’t adjust.

I was kidnapped. I came to sometime afterward, finding myself imprisoned within this massive concrete structure, awakening to this realization: I’m not the only one who’s been taken. There are others; many others. Rumor has it that the one behind all of this—an evil man named, ‘The Dark One’—is going to force us to work for him, though we don’t know why. I’ve sworn to die before becoming a benefactor in this plot to kill innocent civilians, but they tell me the choice may not be mine to make.

Strange powers are at work here.

There’s this mystical legend, for instance. It speaks of a man called the Liberator; a man foretold to rescue the innocent and destroy the Dark One’s wicked plot. It’s my responsibility to find this man before time runs out. I cannot fail, or all is lost. I will die trying, if need be. I’m not crazy. I know it all sounds ridiculous, but it’s true.

Death and destruction are behind this plot, and I’m the only one who can prevent it. Over fifty innocent civilians are directly in harm’s way; I have to help save them, but there’s only one way to succeed:

I must be relentless.

Who is Jonathan Bryant?

Jonathan Bryant is a nineteen-year-old high school graduate living in Kentucky. He listens to nothing but CHH; in fact, he’s listened to so many CHH artists that he can’t even pick who is his favorite! His desire is to attend The Master’s College, a Christian college in Santa Clarita, California, to study both writing and film production in hopes of becoming a part-time novelist and a producer/director of his own Christian film company. Though this is what he believes God is calling him to do, he doesn’t have the resources necessary to attend TMC, and the job he had was never going to get him there, he knew. So, he began to focus on another way.

Writing a novel.

Jonathan had grown to love writing; it was something he’d been practicing for a long time, and he’d seen significant improvement as well. And so what started out as a good idea soon became his passion. He’s spent the last two-and-a-half years writing Relentless, the first book in a coming trilogy, and he is now publishing the book through WestBow Press in hopes of raising enough revenue from book sales to attend Master’s.

A Personal Message From Jonathan Bryant

Hello, all! I just wanted to explain the purpose of this giveaway.

First of all, I believe it is God’s will for me to attend a Christian college in California (The Master’s College) to study Media Communication, where I could learn all I need to know about film production. But here is the problem: I live in a poor household in a small town in Kentucky, and there is no way for me to save enough money to pay for the four years’ tuition at The Master’s College… well, actually, there was one way. Ever since a little boy, I loved to write. This love for writing continued to grow as I got older, and my grammar, word use, etc. improved significantly as I entered high school. Thus, the only way I figured I could make it to TMC is if I wrote a book—a really, really good book with lots of heart-throbbing suspense, thrilling action, and intrigue—that I could then publish in hopes that enough copies could be sold to provide for my education.

Well, that time has come.

So how’d I come up with the idea for a giveaway? Well, I was trying to think of ways to promote my book when suddenly, the idea came to mind… I could surprise someone with a custom-skinned Xbox just as I had been surprised with mine (I was the winner of the custom-skinned Je’kob Xbox from JTH!) It had thrilled me so much to win an Xbox, and I thought it would be great both personally and promotionally to offer that experience to someone else as well! And so I emailed JTH with the idea, and they thought it would be great. I greatly appreciate JTH for doing this for me, and I am encouraged that these godly men and women are trying to help me pursue God’s will in my life.

It is literally my biggest dream to attend TMC and become a part-time novelist as well as a Christian film producer, making films that entertain while at the same time glorifying the God who gave us life… will you help me get there?
