Several days ago, we received notice that Reflection Music Group artist Canon was hospitalized at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the Nashville area due to an accident that occurred Saturday night. Below are the details as reported by The Leaf-Chronicle regarding the incident.

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. – An Atlanta man who fell 20 feet into a ravine while helping a wreck victim on 101st Airborne Division Parkway continues to heal at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

At about 10:25 p.m. Saturday, a driver wrecked his car on the 101st, flipping the vehicle.

Aaron McCain, known as “Canon,” a Christian rapper from Atlanta, and his manager, Brandon Mason, had just finished performing a concert at Faith Mission Ministries on Fort Campbell Boulevard and were on their way to dinner.

They saw the wreck and pulled over to help.

Close family friend Jacob Maikish, who is also the CEO of Reflection Music Group, the record label McCain is signed to, said McCain and Mason tried to help the driver get out of the wrecked car. But the driver was in a daze and tried to start the ignition.

“There was gas everywhere, so they took off running to get away from the car. Aaron went over the rail, thinking it was a median in between,” Maikish said.

It was too dark to see, and McCain, not being a local resident, was unaware of the ravine.

He fell about 20 feet and landed in a creek bed.

About an hour later, crews were working to bring McCain back up to the road. He was taken by Lifeflight helicopter to Vanderbilt and treated for a shattered ankle, a broken jaw, and a concussion.

The driver of the other vehicle was not injured.

On Tuesday evening, McCain remained in Vanderbilt and continues to undergo surgeries, Maikish said.

McCain will have his jaw wired shut for about a month and undergo three to five months of rehab. He will have to take time off touring and multiple shows, Maikish said.

“The hard part of this is he is an artist and this is what the does. He gets paid for performing, and his jaw is wired shut,” Maikish said. “We know he will be OK, but it will be a tough road with a lot of rehabilitation, physical therapy and surgeries.”

An account has been created to raise funds for McCain, who was married a month ago and will not be able to work for quite a while.

“It was an act of heroism. He was trying to help the guy and got hurt,” Maikish said. “It is really unfortunate. He will spend Christmas in the hospital.”

Please join us in prayer for Canon and his wife as they go thru the rehabilitation process over the holiday season and for several months to come. If you have the capabilities, please donate towards the campaign to assist in any expenses they may have during the process.
